Privacy policy

Effective September 19, 2026

The short version

Otherwise does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and the app makes no network requests.

What stays on your iPhone

• The phrases you write and save to the Journal, and their tags.
• The schedules you set for them.

All of it lives in the app's own storage on your device. It is not synced or backed up by Otherwise anywhere; deleting the app removes it.

Alarms

Otherwise uses Apple's alarm framework (AlarmKit) to ring at the times you choose. iOS asks for your permission before the first alarm is scheduled, and you can withdraw it at any time in Settings. The phrase shown when an alarm rings is stored only on your device.

What Otherwise does not do

• Ask for your name, email, location or contacts.
• Track you across apps or websites.
• Share anything with third parties.

This website

If you write through the support form, your name, email and message are sent to me by email so I can reply, and are used for nothing else. The form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which is subject to Google's privacy policy.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new effective date.
